ARTS 350 - Independent Study
2024 Fall
This project is centered on the reclamation of our own humanity through active sensorial experiences and engagement. I worked with materials found on Wellesley College campus, such as harvesting cattails and bamboo from the surrounding nature. Objects made from found materials occupied the Japanese Garden in the art library. I wanted to draw attention to the overlooked environment and transform the ordinary into meaningful expressions of presence and memory. The repetitive motion of sweeping, weeding, and piling became a ritual to which the body serves as a site of remembrance and labor, holding both personal and collective histories.
